Belgium’s Foreign Minister Maxime Prévot has warned parliament about hosting Reza Pahlavi on Nov 5. His assessment: neither Pahlavi nor his political ambitions “enjoy unanimous support among the Iranian population.” Other opposition voices, he said, should be heard too.

"The Iranian opposition is particularly diverse, and neither Mr Pahlavi himself nor his political ambitions enjoy unanimous support among the Iranian population. In light of this, it would be appropriate (...) to allow other voices from across the broad spectrum of the Iranian opposition to be heard as well. This balanced approach would avoid the welcome extended to a single individual being interpreted as a political preference for a particular faction or person," the minister explained.
